What are good ways to keep from having a panic attack on a plane? i have never flown before?
mum asked:
I have asthma and stress sometimes can cause an asthma/panic attack. I’m afraid I’ll freak out during the flight.

try to keep your self occupied
and don’t think about it too much
it will usually be alright
the more you think about it the worse it gets

Get an aisle seat that looks out over a wing, that’ll help reduce the stress a little

Know that most of the noises are planned, and are part of the flight…take off , landing..
knowing about something ahead of time will help make it easier.
You’ll feel some physical sensations….bring chewing gum,
ask someone who has just flown to describe it to you…have them write down what happened…so you aren’t worried …you know what to expect.
the bathrooms are very, very tiny….etc…

The number one important thing to remember on the plane is that all the sounds youll hear are NORMAL. If you are an inexperienced flier the noises can scare people.
Also, during the decent or turbulence, the plane may drop a little and you just need to remember that this is completely normal.
I recently had a landing in Rome where we had two aborted approaches due to horrible weather , and we skidded when we landed. Noone seemed worried because we were all paying attention to the video screens, so perhaps pre-occuppying your mind could help?
