i have panic attacks. before i had them i didnt really know how serious they are. until i had my first one. it was sooooooo scarey. while i was having it, i thought about my friend who told me what she does when she has them, slowly sit on the floor and take deep breathes, deep breathes are good for getting oxygen to your brain which can make it go away alot faster. also, you may think something is seriously wrong with you, but during that, keep telling yourself.. you are okay.. it'll go away in a few seconds.. try to convence yourself you are alright. it works for me sometimes. altho i still get very scared while having them!

I'm 14. I have anxiety, and I've had panic attacks. The best thing to calm me down, is to know that it is only a panic attack, first, that its not going to kill me. Second, I try to get my mind off it.
I think,
'Oh, Look, its a chair. Look, a window.'
Point out the obvious, breathe deeply and just act cool about it. Just say
'Oh, Okay. This is all it is, I'm alright. [: '
It works, Really. Its all in the mind.

Peace be with you, dahlin'. ;>

First off, medication does wonders. Initially when I developed anxiety and panic, I wanted to avoid medication and took the CBT route. When I had panic attacks, initially I would be very scared of them and would try to prevent them from happening. Being afraid of having your next panic attack usually causes the next one and it's usually worse than the actual panic attack! As anxiety attacks are fueled by anxiety, the whole act of me being scared of having attacks and trying to prevent them would trigger an attack and create a feedback loop. It would make the problem worse and cycle. My anxiety attacks finally went away when I stopped being scared of having them. If you have one, what's the worst that's going to happen? You're not going to die and it'll only last a few minutes. If you're around people, they won't even know you're having one - say your have a stomach ache and you have to excuse yourself. There's absolutely no reason to be scared of them. If you feel like you're going to have one, relax, take some deep breaths, don't be scared, and don't worry about it! Nothing bad is going to happen. Once you're not scared of having panic attacks, you'll break the feedback loop you've created and you wont have them anymore. In the unlikely case that you continually have multiple panic attacks every day where it interferes with your life, I would talk to your doctor and see if any medications would work for you.

Concretrate on your breathing.
Take a deep breath in and as you are taking it in count to six, then hold for two seconds, and release and as your release count to four and repeat.
Putting ice cubes on your wrists and back of your neck, can help cool you down a little bit.
Call someone who understands to keep your mind off of it.

I know how scary it can be, I suffered with severe panic attacks for about 5 months until they controlled my life and I seeked help from a therapist.

Here's the two main things my therapist told me and it stopped my worries...
1. You will not die.
2. You will not pass out.

Everything will be okay, I know its terrifying, but you will be just fine, just don't let it get you to the point of you are terrified to leave your house.

Good luck

When you are having a panic attack- just take deep calming breaths and drink cold water.

If you can be at the time, be analytical about the situation. Especially if you are in a time crunch. Just Think about how having a panic attack will reduce your time to meet the deadline, (think 'panicking is not going to solve the problem but make it worse'). It may help you avoid them altogether oddly enough.

Otherwise just put on some music- and relax or dance to it!

realize that panic attacks are caused by a sudden release of adrenaline in the brain, then realize that adrenaline is very rapid acting and very short lasting as a hormone, 15 minutes tops. So, focus on your breathing, deeply and slowly, and the attack will pass quickly.

close your eyes and take a deep breath and slowly let the air out.
then go outside and take a brisk walk and look at your surroundings and be grateful that you can walk and see what you are looking at. and smile and scream out YEEEES
