What is the best way to ward off a panic attack?

panic attack
serialmom12 asked:

I have to take my best friend for outpatient surgery today, and I’m all ready sick with worry about her, and about potentially having a panic attack. I love my friend like a sister, but she’s a big Drama Queen and always seems to set me off. I have xanex if push comes to shove, but I’d rather avoid taking it if I can….any good suggestions would be appreciated.

Do something very physical. Run around the block, clean the house, anything that gets you moving.

BREATH, focus on your breathing and talk your way through it, say I will be ok, this will pass soon, Im ok, go for a jog or walk to get the energhy to disperse AND GET THE ENDORPHINS KICKING IN. read something spiritual and pray that you will get through it. Passionflower helps, smoke it if you smoke drink it if you dont smoke it instantly calms youi down. drink tea and chat with a freind. have awarm bath with lavender and other oils. failing that take a sleeping pill and you will feel better in the morning.

lol, this is going to sound really dumb. i dont much believe in god or any faith really. but when im having an anxiety attack and my ehart starts beatiung out of my chest, sweating and screaming insde and straight up panicking like the whole room will collapse on me, i daydream to god. haha. yah, so dumb. but it gives me someone to talk to inside my head. its quite calming actually. i guess you have to find your own technique. ‘god’ is my imaginary head friend. and he asks me questions, and i have to answer him and that diverts my attention from panicking.
